The three foundational components for a successful golfer at any level

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

At Kinexit we believe there are 3 foundational components you need to consider to grow your golf game, play more rounds, hit longer drives and improve your score. For years, the focus has been on equipment and technique to improve as a golfer. To optimize the money spent on equipment and tuition, we believe the key to sustained success and improvement lies in focusing on your fitness to unlock your body’s full potential as a golfer. Click here to hear how Matz Evensson combines the three components when working with his members.

Equipment
Club fitting has been around for many years. Professional players have always been tinkering with their clubs i.e. the length and flex of the shaft, thickness of grip, loft and lie. With the advancement of technology and the introduction of products like Trackman and FlightScope, Teaching Professionals are now able to offer detailed club fitting for all golfers. Club fitting alone won’t make you a better golfer, but it will put you in a position to improve your game.

Technique
In golf, instruction is important to help you optimize ball control, length and distance of your shots no matter what level you play at. Small adjustments can make a big impact on your results. The basics of the golf swing is how you set yourself up – your grip, stance and alignment. In his book ‘The Golf Swing’, David Leadbetter talks about how important the setup is for the foundation of the golf swing. If you have a weak grip, open stance and shoulders you can stand on the range for hours trying to hit a straight shot – and you might just do that occasionally, but most of your shots will be a slice. Make sure you cover the basics to help you train better to play more.

Fitness
The foundation for optimizing results from your equipment and your technique is looking after your body. If your body has restrictions and can’t make the moves required of the golf swing, you won’t improve and enjoy your game as much as if you paid attention to this foundational component of the game. Studies have shown, that with Kinexit, you only need to work out 15 minutes 3 times per week to improve your fitness levels and thus improve your golf game. It will also help prevent injuries from the strains and stress the golf swing puts on the body.
